Making Bee Food

Busy making "Bee Food".  I had to enlist the unwilling assistance of my children.  They are happy to eat honey, but not so happy when it comes to caring for the critters that make that honey.

Dd punching holes in lids.  The holes are not as large as they look and she went back later and made more holes.  This is my walking disaster, she was more than happy to wreck havoc upon something with my blessing.

Jars for bee food.  Lots of jars = lots of future honey.

Future honey.  Yum.

Lots of jars and lots of lids.  MORE future honey.  Yum.

EVEN MORE future honey.  Yum Yum.

Yum Yum Yum.

Yum yum yu-Ooops.  Ds said that he just had a mind blank.  Hope the glass didn't get into the garbage disposal.  So much for that jar of future honey.  Which child did I say was the walking disaster?  Okay, maybe I have two of those!  LOL!

Lots of jars = lots and lots and lots and lots and LOTS of future honey.  Yum yum yumumumm.  The bees will be here sometime this week.  We are looking forward to having (lots of) honey to eat and sell this fall.

Bee Hive Assembly

Gettin' down to making some beehives. We have fifteen hives coming in soon!

Oh, that's not so bad.

Oh.... Well... It's still manageable, right?

*passes out*

We'll just let dear son handle this one.

Heather says I have to post something about what is going on.  So that is what I am doing. She is quite the taskmaster.

This morning I started to dry Quisi off.  We have too much milk and I need to reduce the work before the girls and I go on Heather's campus visit and leave the boys in charge.  Quisi is one unhappy camper.  I feel so bad for her!  But, she quit eating on the stand.   She inhales her grain when she is asserting her authority over the other goats, but only stands and lets me milk her when she isn't fighting to be the queen. She became the logical one to dry off.

Over the weekend, the kids and I built 150 hive frames for the 15 hives of bees we should receive next week.  Heather is supposed to get the pics posted.  If she doesn't do it soon, I will nag her.  Rand is painting the hives tonight.  We are planning for lots of honey next year.  Yum.

Okay.  I have a book I want to read tonight, so I will post more later - besides, pictures paint a thousand words - so I will make Heather post some pics of all the fun we are having here with goat babies and bee hives and deciding on college.  Never a dull moment.

Maybe this will get easier with practice.  I hope.

God bless.
